Close by

Kidwelly Farm sits on the hill between Kidwelly and Ferryside, and we’re surrounded by beautiful countryside and delightful walks.

Wander down the footpath to Kidwelly and explore the church and magnificent castle (one of the best in Wales), or take a walk along the coastal path. There are also cycle paths nearby, perfect for exploring the area on two wheels.

Explore the stunning 8 mile long beach at Cefn Sidan (you might even spot aircraft practising beach landings on the far end!), or visit Ferryside and take the amphibious ferry across the river to the pretty village of Llansteffan and its hilltop castle.

The old market town of Carmarthen is 8 miles away and is full of character with plenty of shops, restaurants and entertainment.

Sand and sea

West Wales is lucky to have some of the most beautiful beaches in the world.

As well as Cefn Sidan just a few miles away, within an hours drive you’ll find the coastal towns of Tenby and Saundersfoot, as well as Pendine, with it’s huge stretches of sand made famous by landspeed record attempts. Just beyond there’s Barafundle Bay (voted one of the top 20 beaches in the world) and Freshwater West – the site of Dobby’s grave and a fantastic surf location.

Heading east you’ll find the Gower, with a huge coastline of beaches, caves and cliffs to explore.

Something for everyone

Young visitors (and those young at heart) will love the adventure park zoo, Folly Farm, riding the rollercoasters at the theme park Oakwood, or even feeding tigers in Manor Wildlife Park – all in Pembrokeshire

The National Wetlands Centre run by the Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust is home to over 650 of the world’s most spectacular ducks, geese, swans and flamingos.

Wales is home to more castles per square mile than anywhere else in the world. Explore the fortresses at KidwellyCarreg Cennen, and Dinefwr where you will also find the 18th century gardens designed by Capability Brown.

Ffos Las, which opened in June 2009, has brought top class horse racing to West Wales and has a high quality racing programme.

Whatever your interests, you’ll find something amazing to do close by.

Get active

if you’re looking for something more adventurous than sunbathing and gentle walks, you’ll be spoilt for choice.

The landscapes around West Wales lend themselves to a huge range of outdoor sports: Coasteering, kayaking and fishing off our coastlines; or mountain biking and climbing on our hills and mountains.

Nearby Pembrey Country Park features a dry ski slope and toboggan run, as well as miles of forestry and paths that make it great for cyclists and walkers.

There are also championship golf courses nearby at Ashburnham and Machynys, and parkland courses at Carmarthen and Glyn Abbey. Reduced green fees can be arranged.

What our guests say

Big Cwtch Shepherd’s Hut – PERFECT!

The Big Cwtch is in a private field and has a wood burning hot tub, fire pit, hob, fridge bathroom with shower, super comfy bed and the best views!! The hut was spotlessly clean and had everything you’d need for a great stay. The hot tub was a highlight. Could not think of a more perfect way to spend an evening than sitting there taking in the views with a glass of wine!

Fantastic family few days in the lovely barn conversion

We have just had four nights with a family group including four young children (aged 1 to 5) in the lovely barn. It was absolutely perfect and the facilities suited all our needs. The setting is stunning and in a perfect location for Pembrey forest and the coast.

Wonderful short break

Our recent stay at Y Felin for a family get together was all we could have hoped for. Spotlessly clean, very comfortable, well equipped and a beautiful setting with lovely views across the estuary. Thank you so much Peter and Ann, we would have no hesitation in recommending a stay with you.
